JNPA Cargo Throughput Grows 7.5%, Port Capacity to Hit 10.1M TEUs by April 2025

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) achieved a record 7.501 million TEUs in FY25, a 15.55% rise from 6.43 million TEUs in FY24, marking its highest-ever container volume.

Overall cargo throughput grew 7.5% to 92.28 million tonnes. JNPA Chairman Unmesh Wagh highlighted the public sector’s efficiency in achieving these milestones. The port’s capacity will expand to 10.1 million TEUs by April 16, 2025, with BMCT's second phase completion. Leading terminals included BMCT (2.27 million TEUs, +11.95%), GTI (2.078 million TEUs, +30.85%), and NSICT (1.207 million TEUs, +6.67%). With the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor’s completion by December, JNPA aims to handle 10 million TEUs by 2029-30, cementing its status as India’s largest container port.
